Technology: Induction Lights

Induction Lights provide energy savings, long life, and fast economic payback.  Available in street lights, shoebox, decorative and industrial style fixtures, induction is the perfect light technology for high usage, high output lighting requirements.

Induction light technology is similar to fluorescent lights, but instead of utilizing electrodes as in traditional fluorescent, utilizes a high frequency electromagnetic inducer to excite the electrons in the lamp.  By eliminating the electrodes, which deteriorate and cause fluorescent lamp failure, induction lights have a rated life of 100,000 hours (11.5 years of continuous use, or 23 years of street light use averaging 12 hours per day of usage).

One characteristic of Induction Lights is High Color Rendering Index (CRI), which provides better visibility than High Intensity Discharge (HID) such as High Pressure Sodium (HPS), Metal Halide (MH), or Mercury Vapor.  Also, the lumen degradation of HID lights is rapid and significant, with loss of over 30% of original lumen output occurring within 2-3 years.  Induction lights maintain over 70% of lumen output throughout the expected life of 100,000 hours.  These
factors allow induction lights to provide savings of 40-60%  over HPS,  50-60% over MH, and 75%+ savings over Mercury Vapor.  Coupled with the additional benefit of reduced maintenance costs, induction lights are the logical alternative for energy efficiency and cost savings.
